Random Ramblings...

When a baby turns one, along with all the excitement (of the parents and everyone OT...HER than the baby) of this important milestone, there are the immunization shots. There are 3. However, thanks to our move, Isabelle had 4.

Let me explain. In Australia, there are no measles shots when the baby hits 9 months, which we get in India (I mean the shot, not necessarily...the measles). However they give the pneumococcal vaccine here at 9 months, which is an optional vaccination in India. The measles is covered in the MMR at 12 months. Anyway, before people zone out...Isabelle had 4 on the same day - the usual IPV, Hib, the second dose of the pneumococcal and the MMR. It was sad, to hear her outrage at the doctor pulling at each of her extremities to inject her. But as he said - "You give her just 1 today, she's going to cry. You give her 2, she's going to cry. You give her 3..." you get the picture. And he's absolutely right. She bawled her guts out but just for a minute. Here she is back at home:
:) Doesn't she look funny? It's for your own good, bunny...
 Ahhhh children! They are resilient...

Speaking of resilience, I don't understand what the story is with her teeth. She was born with her lower two teeth. Her upper teeth, were both out only by the time she was close to 11 months old.

Can you see the tiny teeth?
And there is no sign of any other teeth sprouting out soon. She eats well though and is healthy, so I guess I should just wait it out.

Sleep - She still wakes up a couple of times for a feed. She naps twice during the day and those are precious hours for me to regain a little sanity. She's at a tantrum-y stage where she needs to touch and try to destroy anything that's not within her reach and scream when she isn't allowed certain things...like knives, scissors or bleach. Here is her close-to-rage cry-face:

No-no-no-no-no-no!!!
Anyway, back to the sleep bit. Here are some precious sleepy/sleeping baby moments captured.

Just a little more time under my blankie and I'm out...
